In most cases, there is a reason why Freon needs to be added, and our diagnosis will pinpoint the cause and we will evaluate possible solutions together.
How Much Do You Charge to Install Different Systems?
There are many variables involved when designing the right system for your family and your home. Not only do we have to account for the new system, but also must consider the distribution system, refrigerant lines, plenums, and more. Because of this, we don’t quote a price sight unseen. It is only fair to give you a price after evaluating the needs of the space and the solutions that work best with your budget.
Will You Install the Thermostat I Bought at Home Depot, Lowe's, or Another Source?
As a policy, we only install equipment and accessories we have on-hand and are authorized to install. However, Blue Flame Heating & Cooling are authorized dealers for various products. Depending on the make and model, we will install these units but do not warranty products that we do not furnish.
How often do I need to change my air filters?
Once a month is a pretty good rule for most people. Depending on where you live and how much dirt, pet dander, and other contaminants are present, the answer could be more or less. Check your filter frequently to determine if it’s dirty. If it is, change it.
How often should I have my unit serviced?
Heating and cooling units need to have scheduled check-ups to make sure everything is operating properly. HVAC experts recommend an annual inspection and service call by your heating and cooling company. Technicians should inspect your system, lubricate components, and repair or replace any malfunctioning components.
What's the best temperature settings for efficiency?
For energy efficiency, aim for around 78°F in summer and 68°F in winter when you’re home, and lower the temperature further when away or sleeping.
What's the difference between a furnace and heat pump?
A furnace only generates heat by burning fuel, while a heat pump transfers existing heat from the outside air to the inside, meaning a furnace can only heat a home while a heat pump can both heat and cool a home, making the heat pump more versatile and potentially more energy efficient in milder climates.
How do I find out if my unit is under warranty?
Check the label on the outer surface of your equipment to determine its manufacture date. If it’s less than five years old, there’s a good chance that your equipment is covered by a warranty. Contact the manufacturer for more details. Please remember to register all new equipment immediately after installation to make sure your warranty is valid.
What’s the best way to extend the life of my unit?
There are many ways to help extend the life of your units. Changing air filters will prevent clogs. Reducing usage when you aren’t home. Regular check-ups can also help you ward off any potential trouble spots.
If I replace my outdoor unit, do I need to also replace my indoor unit?
In most cases, yes. There are multiple factors to consider when replacing part or all of your home heating and cooling units.
If you originally bought your indoor and outdoor units at the same time, your indoor unit will probably be approaching the end of its useful life at about the same time as the outdoor unit.
Air conditioner and heat pump outdoor units are manufactured to work with a matched indoor unit. When you mix and match units, it can result in reduced efficiency and performance.
By purchasing indoor and outdoor units simultaneously, you’ll get a warranty covering the whole system, meaning that you won’t have to cover the full cost of any needed repairs to your unit during the warranty period.
